This is Halloween!

What an awesome day!!

I started off with some reading of Edgar Allen Poe and pumpkin bread with a cup of black coffee!!!

The pumpkin bread I made last week from this seriously amazing recipe from Mommycoddle. Holy Moly!! I am not the most skilled baker and this bread turns out wonderfully every time!

After that delicious breakfast I had an instruction meeting. I then took a walk around campus, just to enjoy the last leaves on the tree. Then I stuffed my face with junk food at our library work party and worked the reference desk for a few hours. I've been sitting at home, in kind of a candy coma watching some Halloween favorites (Hocus Pocus and A Nightmare before Christmas, of course) before I waddle off to bed.

I want to wear my bicycle

Via Flickr:

Dusty rose bicycle graphic tee: Gap
Gray cords: Old Navy
Black Converse

It was so much colder today that I needed my thick cords!! Also, being a grad student affords me the chance to be a bit more casual at the reference desk.

I thought I would be swamped with a collaborative collection development group project this week and weekend but my group rocks so I am free to do fun halloween things this weekend like drink delicious cider, don a crazy costume, eat my weight in candy, take deliciously cool autumn strolls, and bake pumpkin bread!!!

And of course, wear cardigans! A library essential.

Too hot for tights

Via Flickr:
Black jackie cardigan: Jcrew
White ruffle top: Old Navy
Blue stripe skirt: H&M
Black tights: Target
Brown pointy flats: Xhilaration

It felt cooler this morning I swear!! But tights proved to be too much for today (Even though it was windy). On the upside, I got to teach a grad level ESL class. ESL classes are always so interesting to me because the students always ask tons of really thoughtful questions and it definitely makes me reconsider how we teach the course.

A little bit of everything I love

Via Flickr:
Navy Jackie cardigan: JCrew
Blue dotted dress: Elle (via Kohls)
Gray tights: Target
Brown Mary janes: Xhilaration

I am in love with this dress. I bought it in August and have been trying not to wear it every day!! It's comfy but looks really dressy.

It is also wonderful for bike riding which I did, today, without a jacket because it was 68 degrees. I think I am the only person cursing the warm weather and wishing for snow but it's awkward when I want to wear tights and scarves and it is still too hot. Next week is Halloween after all!

Ruffles and Pinstripes

I had a crazy day: a long reference shift, helping someone teach, a mini lunch break, and then teaching a graduate level ESL library session. Whew! I barely had time to shove food in my face before my night class! Thusly, this picture was taken at night- I'm blaming the fact that it gets dark way earlier now!! Although I am grateful for the cold because it means I get to wear tights again!!

Sweetness and Light

I am feeling a bit like sweetness and light (a Matthew Arnold phrase) today because.....my laptop is finally back in business.

The reason I have posted in a few weeks is because the LCD cable on my laptop blew out which meant that my laptop worked but the screen was dead. I had to wait for the part to ship from Dell and then wait for a local computer repair shop to fix it.

It wasn't all bad- it was refreshing not to have my laptop on at all times distracting me when I was home. I was more efficient with homework (since I had to do things at the library before I could go home) and felt more relaxed. I am glad to have my laptop back (especially at this busy time of the semester) but I hope to keep it off more often!

Although that doesn't mean my librarian wear will be lacking as well- I am back to posting with regularity!
