Today got away from me!! I had an earlier morning meeting, then had to finish loading up the library's twitter before my children's lit. class (and eating a lunch of yogurt on the way to class). By the time I arrived home, hungry and way over caffeinated, all I felt like doing was snacking and napping. All of a sudden it was night time and I still have some homework to do!!

No matter how crazed I feel some days I remind myself that I get to spend an afternoon every week talking about picture books. Grad school is tough but kind of awesome. Of the books we discussed this week my favorite was The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Such an interesting genre mix!

I also forced myself to make this tasty healthy raw kale salad using my farmer's market kale. I am feeling full and loaded up with vitamin A!!

It's a yucky rainy day where I am at so I needed some bright colors. Especially since the library's Hootsuite (it helps you schedule tweets) crashed on me and we lost some tweets. I had to stay at the library for an extra two hours to troubleshoot that stuff. Booooo.

Opps!! Week one of school got away from me (due to me trying to finish a project I should have finished this summer). So this picture happened last Wednesday when I only had my Children's Lit class (so I had the luxury of being casual).

Other than catching up, life has been busy but beautiful. I am reading really interesting articles on social impacts (for social science) and reading really cool picture books and youth novels. I finally caught up on that reading this weekend and celebrated by cleaning my apartment and visiting the Farmer's market. I really know how to party!

Shoe Spice up

I'm already falling back into my comfort zone of black and grey so, before I left the house I made a shoe change so I would bring a bit of brightness to the library. Today was busy, but good. It was raining, so I cozied up to the reference desk with a big mug of coffee and helped students with those beginning of the semester questions: how to find textbooks, how to print, where the bathroom is, etc. I helped a student reset her email password and she was beyond grateful. It's the little things.

I am also pumped about my new android app- TuneRadio. I can put on NPR and carry my phone with me so I can listen to it while I get ready, make food, etc. And the sound is so much better than my old crappy radio. Excitement!

First Day of School!

I was admittedly dreading the first day of school because summer was so wonderful (nights off to cook, read, and catch up on tv) but this semester looks to be a good one. I woke up this morning, listened to NPR and drank coffee, took a walk, biked to the library for a reference shift, and am now settling down for an online class. I feel busy but I really like my schedule (more time to myself in the morning). It's my last "real" semester before I start applying for jobs (in which I will be a nervous wreck!) so I plan to enjoy being a student.

Today was my last day of summer school (web design)!!! I am happy to report that my final project went really well; I can't believe I learned how to create a web page from scratch over 10 short weeks.

Tomorrow marks my official last shift of the summer!! Then I have two weeks of work free bliss before the semester starts. I plan on spicing up my resume and cover letter (for dreaded job applications next year) and reading as many books as I can. I am taking children's lit. this fall (aka, in two weeks!) so I have over 50 children's novels and picture books I ordered through Interlibrary Loan waiting to be read. Done!

I went to visit an old friend this weekend and had a wonderful but exhausting time. We swam at the beach, ate tons of fried food, and played bingo (for real). We also didn't get to bed until the wee hours of Sunday morning. As a result of the late night (my summer bedtime has been 9:30) and the fried food my body feels a bit out of sorts today. So I went with some comfort basics to get me through class and work. Now I am snuggled up on the couch, waiting for True Blood to load, and contemplating Mac & Cheese (from a box, because I need easy food today) for dinner.

Only a few more days of class and summer reference and I have two gloriously free weeks before the semester starts.
